Cadishead Park – improvements to the existing play facilities
As you will be aware a significant consultation exercise was recently held in Cadishead in order to determine people’s views on the existing play facilities within Cadishead Park. One of the reasons for the consultation was to find out what type of equipment people wanted and would use, this enabled us to design the play facilities based upon people’s wishes and to cater for a wider age range.
Funding has now been secured to implement these improvements. Firstly a Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) will be constructed on the site of the former tennis courts, a new tarmac footpath including tree planting will link this new facility and solar lights will be installed to provide a well lit route and to illuminate the MUGA. It is anticipated that these works should be completed by early summer. It is hoped that when further funding becomes available a skateboard area will be sited next to the MUGA.
The second phase of the improvements will consist of upgrading the play area, in order to do this the existing facility will be removed, this will be undertaken in line with the completion of the MUGA therefore there will be no play area in the park for a couple of months.
A new larger provision will be built adjacent to the community hall, currently a design is being worked on and when completed will be made available on this site and as previously mentioned, will reflect the wishes of those who took part in the consultation.
We hope, subject to planning approvals, the new play area will be completed in autumn
